Telnet is a windows based client, a network protocol that allows you to access remote computers using the virtual terminal connection. Upon logging in to the Telnet client the user is provided with a command prompt to perform actions on the server. Whatever commands are typed into the telnet command prompt (cmd) are conveyed and executed on the Telnet server. When the commands are executed there, output is sent back to your telnet client which you are able to view.
Telnet client is a feature that comes with MS Windows Server 2008, but by default it is disabled on 2008 server and needs to be installed or enabled manually. There are two different methods to install telnet client on the windows server 2008.
